ROTI Mission

As a recreational Fellowship within Rotary International, ROTI is ever mindful of the first object of Rotary: the development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

ROTI members are in a special position to develop acquaintances. With members from over 100 countries, friendship and acquaintance has taken on a whole new meaning and concept. ROTI members are in a position to further world understanding in a way none have ever experienced before.

The mission of ROTI is to apply modern information technology to enhance Rotary service, fellowship and knowledge, and to use Internet communications to further world understanding and peace.

Rotary International now insists that every District Governor must connect via the Internet to their home office and that every district must have its own web site to improve communications between clubs, DGs, DG staff and Rotary International. ROTI members world wide have contributed to this over the past 5 years.

Email linkage has now become the standard procedure used for 90% of the establishment of projects, matching grants, GSE planning, ISE planning and final reporting including accounting to Rotary International.

ROTI members have led the way in showing the rest of Rotary how the Internet has increased the speed and efficiency of communication to other Rotarians, so that programs which will alleviate hunger, illiteracy, disease and hopelessness are now being expedited to the advantage of all.

Internet conferencing and chat rooms are becoming the norm, and free internet phone systems are building the friendships between ROTIans and improving the understanding between countries. We have seen the establishment of Internet E-Rotary Clubs, where those who are eligible to be Rotarians but denied the privilege and opportunity by distance now meet weekly, like other Rotarians, and share and contribute to the furtherance of world understanding and peace.

As we enter the 21st century we are very conscious of the responsibility we have to ensure that this new technology is used effectively to help our organization. Rotarians who have discovered the wonders of the Internet must realize that the technology of the 21st century is ours to shape and mold into the things that Rotary dreams are made of.

Come join us at ROTI and be a part of this new Cyber-adventure!
